Solar Grid Systems

Here are some facts to help you decide if a grid tied solar electric system under the Ontario feed in tariff is righ for you:

- Under ideal conditions, A 1kw grid tied solar electric system (5 to 6 panels) under the FIT will generate approx. 1100 kwhr per year or revenue of $882 per year. Add 1100 kwhr generated for each additional kw of panels installed. Note: the panels should be facing true south and not be shaded at anytime during the day.

- Depending on final installed costs and the size of the system, a solar electric system under FIT will generate a return on investment of 8 to 12% per year.

- Solar electric panels are normally guaranteed for 20 to 25 years, will produce power for 30 to 40 years, and require no maintenance other than the occasional cleaning of the glass during long dry periods.
